ABOUT US
The Gawand Foundation is an initiative born out of a noble desire to preserve and propagate the unique culture of Haryana, which though rooted firmly in wider Indian Civilisation, has defining features of perseverance, equality and fraternity which make it beautifully inclusive.
Though started on a shoestring budget, it is a matter of great satisfaction that the Gawand Foundation will be holding the 4th Edition of its flagship event - the Haryana Literary Festival - at the Government Post Graduate Nehru College, Jhajjar from the 29th to the 31st of October, 2025.
FOUNDER
Born into a farmer - soldier family, Dr. Singh followed the hallowed tradition of his family to serve with the colours as a fifth generation soldier. His, nearly four decades long military career was marked by combat assignments at Siachen Glacier as also anti-insurgency and anti-terror operations leading to award of Citation by the Chief of the Army Staff.
As an author he has six books to his credit besides articles in reputed publications. His books on the history of Haryana are taken as reference books by the scholars.
